Perry Street Bridge at Lakewood Gulch

Perry Street Bridge at Lakewood Gulch
City: Denver
Year: 2001
Project Description:

Kiowa Engineering prepared designs for Lakewood Gulch improvements between 10th Avenue and Tennyson Street in southwest Denver.  The project included new 50-foot span bridges at 10th Avenue, Perry Street and Tennyson Streets.  The project involved installation of channel bank protection, utility relocation, trail construction, landscaping, permitting, and construction management services.  Kiowa Engineering is currently preparing plans for the final reach of the Lakewood Gulch project.

Lakewood Gulch is an urban stream draining much of Lakewood.  Lakewood Gulch is subject to severe flooding resulting in 100-year peak flows of 8000 cfs.  The design provided benefits to the community by improving flood carrying capacity, a recreational trail and also opened up the gulch for both safety and aesthetics.
